Domain

When Pohangina was first settled in the 1890s, the 13 acre Pohangina Recreation Reserve (The Domain) was established as a venue for community gatherings. For many decades it was busy and popular, and facilities included tennis courts, a cricket ground, and a croquet lawn. However public use declined with improvements to transportation, and so the Domain became leased farmland.

More recently, the community expressed a desire to re-establish the Domain as a recreation area alongside the use for farming. A Landscape Plan was commissioned and work started. The pavillion has been painted, a carpark, picnic tables, and new cattle yards built, and lots of trees planted. The next phase includes fencing, walkways, and more planting.

It’s all happening, so get involved and meet your neighbours.
